MOSCOW, 9 MAR – Today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov begins his visit to Egypt and the U.S where he will discuss the situation in the Middle East with particular attention to Syria.  Today and tomorrow Lavrov will be in Cairo to meet Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, who is in command in the country, and other officers. Lavrov will also travel to New York on March 12th, on the fringes of a meeting of the UN Security Council, where the Middle East Quartet of international mediators, that includes the United States, European Union, Russia and the United Nations, will meet trying to find a solution to the crisis in the region.
