MOSCOW, 31 JUL – The new generation of Russian nuclear submarines had the baptism of Vladimir Putin. The President participated at the start of construction of the Borei submarine fleet, capable of carrying a nuclear intercontinental missile. “We believe that our country should maintain its status of one of the leading naval powers,” Putin said. By 2020, around 621 billion dollars will be spent for the Navy and the fleet will amount to eight new Borei and 51 ships. The new navy submarines are intended for the conquest of the Arctic.
