BEIJING, 29 AUG – The Titanic is made in China. But this is not the reason why it sank in 1912: in fact the one that will be built by Sinotrans a hundred years later will be a replica of the liner. Behind the project is the Australian billionaire Clive Palmer, who at age 58 decided to invest his money, made with the mining in Australia and sale of minerals to China. The tycoon dreams of arriving in New York harbor on board with Hollywood stars, Chinese leaders of the party, who became his friends, and descendants of the passengers of the first Titanic. The dimensions are the same of the first ship, with 840 rooms and nine bridges, but the new ship will have modern safety measures and rescue boats. The maiden voyage could start from Maidenhead to New York in four years, if Palmer keeps his project going.
