PANZHIHUA, 30 AUG – 19 miners have been killed and 28 others are still trapped in a coal mine after there was a blast in Panzhihua city, Sichaun province. According to the report of Central China Television (CCTV) the miners died due to carbon monoxide poisoning. In China, coal mine tragedies are prevalent, in fact last year 1973 miners died in the same kind of disaster. Despite the danger it involves there are still 600 small coal mines operating which the government is planning to shut down.
